??學(xué)校對文書的看待內(nèi)容和語言的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不太一樣。總體而言，常青藤類的大學(xué)不僅僅需要看文書的內(nèi)容(反映學(xué)生的能力和思想)，還較為看重文書語言質(zhì)量，甚至是家庭背景。如果學(xué)生的申請文書能接近SAT閱讀文章的寫作風(fēng)格和用詞風(fēng)格，在申請中會占優(yōu)勢。
如果申請前35名的大學(xué)，最重要的是文書的內(nèi)容本身，從這些經(jīng)歷描寫中展示學(xué)生的能力。
??語言質(zhì)量并不是那么重要，只要能準(zhǔn)確的表達(dá)出思想和內(nèi)容即可，允許有中國英語的痕跡，甚至是通篇簡單句和單詞都可以獲得錄取。
東部前五十的大學(xué)對文書的要求呈現(xiàn)多樣化趨勢，比如，同在波士頓的東北大學(xué)和波士頓大學(xué)，即便同一個(gè)城市的大學(xué)也會有不同的風(fēng)格。
??波士頓大學(xué)喜歡多樣化推陳出新較為怪異的申請文書，而東北大學(xué)更喜歡正常的文書。
西部前五十的大學(xué)，尤其是加州的大學(xué)，對于學(xué)生文書中展現(xiàn)的能力和多樣化更為喜歡，常規(guī)的申請活動，如模擬聯(lián)合國，自閉癥兒童，敬老院，孤兒院，機(jī)器人比賽，籃球賽足球賽等活動，一般是不能靠文書來打動招生官的。
??標(biāo)化成績并不太高的同學(xué)，在申請西部學(xué)校的時(shí)候，把內(nèi)容寫好，會有很大的機(jī)會獲得破格錄取。
這里插播一條消息：耶魯大學(xué)CA系統(tǒng)2016-2017申請文書題目有變化。
今年耶魯大學(xué)的本科申請將在Common Application、Coalition Application以及QuestBridge National College Match Application三個(gè)申請平臺上進(jìn)行，申請人可選擇任一系統(tǒng)進(jìn)行申請。

Common Application，即我們中國留學(xué)生比較熟悉的CA系統(tǒng)，也是美國大學(xué)申請時(shí)最為常用的系統(tǒng)。申請時(shí)，申請者通常需要完成CA系統(tǒng)的文書并根據(jù)學(xué)校具體要求再提交1-2份文書。今年耶魯大學(xué)將使用CA系統(tǒng)申請的學(xué)生的文書題目進(jìn)行了更換：
舊題目：Please reflect on something you would like us to know about you that we might not learn from the rest of your application, or on something about which you would like to say more。
?? You may write about anything — from personal experiences or interests to intellectual pursuits。
新題目：Please choose two of the following topics and respond to each in 200 words or fewer。

1。 What is a community to which you belong? Reflect on the footprint that you have left。 (You may define community and footprint in any way you like。

可以看出，更換后的新文書問題更加明確具體，縮小了申請者的選題范圍，看上去似乎難度有所降低。不過換個(gè)角度看，小而精的題目對申請者的文筆和講述故事的能力要求更高，如何在同類文書中脫穎而出需要申請者多花點(diǎn)心思了。

另外，新的文書題目也凸顯出耶魯對申請者在社區(qū)活動或經(jīng)歷方面的重視，并且對于申請如熱門的工程和計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)專業(yè)的申請者學(xué)習(xí)動機(jī)和熱情也是校方重要考察的點(diǎn)。
