紐約大學應用統計學碩士區別于傳統項目，開設在社會科學研究生方向，比起理工科，更集合社科性質!
據悉，紐約大學應用統計碩士開設在Steinhardt學院下面，專為社會科學研究提供的2年制STEM項目。
學生將學習先進的定量研究技術，并將其應用于社會，行為和健康科學的關鍵政策問題，為應用統計學家或數據科學家或博士研究的職業生涯做好準備。
紐約大學應用統計學碩士提供三大研究領域，滿足學生未來就業多項選擇。
1)社會影響的數據科學
準備建立研究與實踐的伙伴關系，了解有關數據收集和使用的倫理問題，并有效和簡潔地溝通研究結果及其含義。這是世界上第一個專注于使用數據為政策和實踐提供信息的現實挑戰的學位課程之一。
2)計算方法
你將在方法論理論和發展方面經歷更嚴格的訓練，如果你想攻讀統計學、經濟學或計算機科學的博士學位，這是特別合適的。
3)一般應用統計
這種集中提供了最大的靈活性，允許您通過選擇廣泛的統計和相關課程來定制您的學習。你可以從事與你的課程和實習經歷相一致的工業、研究和博士項目。
據悉，以往應用統計畢業生分別在心理學、教育、政治學、公共政策、媒體研究和醫療保健(國際救援委員會、紐約州總檢察長辦公室、Two Sigma、哈佛教育政策研究中心、維拉司法研究所、警務公平中心和紐約市學校研究聯盟 )。
雖然不會要求前置課程，但是在材料中著名課程背景喜好，具備數學、統計和計算機課程基礎的學生更受歡迎;
此外，在材料上除了需要sop，還需必須回答ASSR Statement的兩個問題的一個：

“Please submit an academic writing sample in English (a course paper or its equivalent) that is sole-authored by you, of not more than 40 pages that you feel demonstrates your writing and analytic abilities. The sample does not need to display a knowledge of applied statistics or data science.”
