這四個詞都可作“談話”解。其區(qū)別在于：
conversation是非正式會談，可能是熱烈和令人興奮的，也可能是乏味和令人厭煩的；
chat是朋友間非常隨便的交談，所談的往往是些有趣的事，但不是很重要的事；
discussion一般指嚴肅地討論某一個問題或難題，并且尋求結(jié)論或解決的辦法，discussion有時可轉(zhuǎn)變?yōu)檗q論；
dialogue是兩個或兩個以上的人之間的對話以及小說、戲劇等中的對白。
例如：In my conversation with him,I mentioned your business plan.我和他談話時曾提及你的營業(yè)計劃。

單詞用法
discussion的基本意思是“討論”“商討”。表示討論的“行為”，既可作可數(shù)名詞，也可作不可數(shù)名詞。discussion后可接介詞about,of,on引出討論的內(nèi)容。under discussion在句中作表語或位于名詞之后作定語，而不可用作狀語。
